Mighty Gazelle as he appeared in F-Zero GX
|First Appeared||F-Zero X|
|Later Appeared|| F-Zero GX|
F-Zero Legend of Falcon
Mighty Gazelle was once a regular human being who worked as a graphic artist and avidly played video games with buddies in his spare time. Since most of the games he played were of the racing genre and he had a natural knack for winning dominating each of them flawlessly, he was eventually prompted by his friends to try entering the next F-Zero Grand Prix, since he was also a tough and well-built guy. Gazelle went with this and soon qualified for his first race. It unfortunately came to an early halt after a horrible accident occured on the track, bringing Gazelle to within a literal inch of his life. He was so badly injured that almost his entire body had to be replaced by cyborganics in order to allow him to escape death. After being left by his wife in the aftermath of his extremeties, racing became all that Gazelle lived for and he entered the F-Zero once again the following year. Despite various protests in regards to his artificial-enhancements, he qualified for this Grand Prix just the same with the intent of bringing home the gold and proving himself to the world. Even though he lost out to Captain Falcon, Gazelle continued to work on his technique constantly, perfecting it to the smallest detail in hopes of turning the tables the next time around.
 F-Zero X
In the second console-based installment of the F-Zero franchise, Mighty Gazelle was introduced as a large and rather intimidating mass of machine which used to be a regular living, breathing man. He pilots a machine known as the Red Gazelle, named for his love of the animal itself. The way it seamlessly bounds at high speeds with the most beautiful grace the eyes could witness had always interested him.
 F-Zero GX
In the most recent console-based title, Mighty Gazelle is seen as a cyborg with closely-related Transformer-like qualities, something that is comically hinted at in his Master Class Video. He is very proud of his new robot body as it not only enhances the overall lackluster abilities that he had to lug around as a human, but it also grants him something along the lines of immortality, making him impervious to nearly any form of outer damage.
 F-Zero Climax
Due to the lack of an actual storyline, besides being based off of the finale to F-Zero Falcon Legend(character-wise), Mighty Gazelle returns in a bound with the Red Gazelle, which carries with it agreat amount of speed, where all other areas such as grip and strength greatly lack.
 F-Zero Legend of Falcon
In the anime adaptation, Mighty Gazelle's real name was Roy Hughes, the father of Clank Hughes. He was once a bounty hunter alongside Captain Falcon and became critically injured after he was ambushed by the evil Zoda during a bounty alongside his long-time comrade. Years after the accident, it is revealed that Roy's preserved brain is in the hands of Black Shadow and he forces Dr. Stewart to build an advanced robotic shell to place it in in order to reanimate Roy into a powerful cyborg programmed to carry out the dark ruler's bidding. Dr. Stewart gives him the name "Mighty Gazelle" in order to keep his memories concealed.
