The Sonic Phantom is the machine driven by the reincarnated legend: The Skull. This vehicle was originally built by the Abinus Company, a mysterious group who supposedly brought The Skull back to life in the first place. They acheived many firsts during the construction of this machine, mainly forging the very first pair of Aura Engines ever used on an F-Zero machine, which require organic matter as a fuel source rather than the traditional latter. The method in which The Skull pilots this machine is unique as well, as he uses the same "black magic" that supposedly brought him back to this world in order to steer his craft and perform other types of typical maneuvers. Their is also a dark rumour going around that The Skull has made it a regular habit as of late to constantly power up his machine during Grand Prix races by stealthily sucking the life force from every live spectator in the stands.

[edit] F-Zero X

In the second console-based installment of the F-Zero franchise, the Sonic Phantom was introduced among the wide array of 25 fellow new machines. While this machine is notorious for it's tough handling, it sports an exceptional amount of boost power that any experienced racer can safely put to their advantage in the long run.

[edit] F-Zero GX

In the most recent console-based installment of this series, The Skull's Sonic Phantom returns with an unfortunate below-average body stat. But it's original 'A'-ranked amount of speed and boost power remain true even in light of it's equally-hindering control levels.

[edit] F-Zero Climax

In the most recent portable console-based title, the Sonic Phantom breaks through to the afterlife with an amazing amount of boost power backing up it's already high speed and acceleration stats. Like most machines that require experienced attention though, this machine's grounded cornering capabilties make it very hard to handle in rough situations and demands much practice in order to put the Sonic Phantom's high speed levels to effective use.
