The Skull as he appeared in F-Zero GX

F-Zero Legend of Falcon
Sterling LaVaughn was the galaxy's greatest racer back in the age of the F-Max, a racing organization that predates the current F-Zero circuit by approximately 200 years. He had an oddly level head and laser-like focus when participating in each race that he would inevitably win every time, ultimately not fearing death at all in the midst of the complete destructive, no-holds-barred competition that the F-Max circuit delivered. Despite this grounded attitude of his, Sterling was well aware of his own mortality and resented it's presence, finding it to hinder his flawless athletic potential. Due to this, Sterling was able to conjure up the aid of an underground witch doctor who endowed him with black magic spells, promising him immortality at a price. Combining this with the advanced science of the current age, Sterling was granted his wish. After winding up in a horrible accident on the track of a later race, Sterling(as well as many other race contenders)burned alive amidst their wrecked machines. 200 years later, at the height of the F-Zero generation, Sterling remained alive and well. The only catch was that he must live forever as a reanimated corpse, taking on the appearance of his skeleton. This didn't faze Sterling however, given that this change granted him superhuman sensory abilities and his own power over black magic, giving him a great advantage over every other mortal racer on the track. With a new lease on eternal life, Sterling(now known as "The Skull")is prepared to introduce his everlasting legacy to a brand new generation.
 F-Zero X
In the second console-based installment of the F-Zero franchise, The Skull was introduced as an extremely gothic-looking, zombie-like racer with an overall very non-Nintendo look to him. Despite his very villianous-seeming appearance, The Skull is actually an official protagonist in the overall series, constantly boasting his legendary driving skills and the immortality which will keep it credible forever!
 F-Zero GX
In the most recent console-based title, The Skull's overall appearance has been noticably toned down, but still shows off an air of darkness and forboding nonetheless(all the while remaining a protagonist despite all of this). He is extremely pleased with his natural racing abilities and the immortality he bears which guarantees to keep it there forever. He can constantly be found referring to the underworld, a supposed sub-existence in which The Skull has been known to race in alongside Deathborn(althoug neither are affiliated).
 F-Zero Climax
Due to the lack of an actual storyline, besides being based off of the finale to F-Zero Falcon Legend(character-wise), The Skull crosses over and back with the Sonic Phantom, boasting all-around balanced stats in the speed, grip, boost, and strength areas.
 F-Zero Legend of Falcon
In the anime adaptation, The Skull is one of Dark Million's lower-tiered recruits, belonging to Zoda's makeshift crew consisting of Bio Rex and Octoman. He is introduced in an episode where he is sent on a mission to utilize his black magic abilities in order to lay a curse on Jody Summer's, the leader of the High Orbit Patrol's, machine. This plan, of course, backfires and comically hits him right in the butt.
