Mortimer "Silver" Neelson(also known as "Ironman Silver" or just plain "Silver Neelson")is a veteran F-Zero pilot who has proven to be an extremely dedicated contender of the sport, taking part in a plethora of races(promptly showing up for each and every one without fail)since he was in his early 20s. The only issue is that of all the Grand Prix races Mortimer participated in since his youth, he hasn't managed to win a single one despite all of his best efforts and dedication. Even though such amounts of failure would easily keep a weaker man at bay, Mortimer stayed strong and true backed by his deep love for this sport and even plans to continue racing well into his 100s. This often brings on ridicule and criticism from the other, younger racers that Silver is involved with on a daily basis, but he rarely lets it faze him, even when he's on a tangent about overdone, modern machines that every other pilot is driving these days in comparison with his reliable, old Night Thunder. This is what earned Silver all of the public respect and credibility that pushes him forward to this day: his vast knowledge of F-Zero racing, coming down to the very last detail. Unfortunately, this sport requires more than just hardcore book smarts, but a willing physical state to match, something that Mortimer greatly lacks in his old age.

[edit] F-Zero X

In the second console-based installment of the F-Zero franchise, Silver Neelson was introduced as a very old yet wise and experienced pilot with a partial Santa-like appearance layered by an overall well-toned physique brought on by years of F-Zero racing. It is shown that he mainly participates in these races in his old age for the sake of proving to the world that Father Time won't stop him from effectively completing in the sport he loves so dearly.

[edit] F-Zero GX

In the most recent console-based title, Silver Neelson has become much more frail and crotchety in appearance, but all the stronger and more willing in mentality. He is very confident in his abilities as a veteran racer and truly believes in his strict advantage over all of the other competitors due to the vast amount of experience he has gained over the course of his elongated life. He also admitted that he plans to open a museum dedicated to his entire life should he win the next Grand Prix and attain the one billion space credits in prize money.

[edit] F-Zero Climax

Due to the lack of an actual storyline, besides being based off of the finale to F-Zero Falcon Legend(character-wise), Silver Neelson delivers it old school in the Night Thunder: wrought with an awful grip stat that is remedied by a great amount of boost power and moderate body strength.

[edit] F-Zero Legend of Falcon

In the anime adaptation, Silver Neelson is introduced in an episode where he runs into Jack Levin at the tail-end of a Grand Prix Championship race and causes him to lose out to Rick Wheeler. He then offers to personally train Jack as an apology for inadvertently causing him the loss, helping to sharpen his racing skills as well as current confidence level.
