Spade as he appeared in F-Zero GX
Name Spade
Age Unknown
Occupation Magician, Racer
Machine Magic Seagull
First Appeared F-Zero GX, F-Zero AX

Spade is an incredibly skilled magician who is known throughout the galaxy for his amazing tricks and overall weird personality. He always speaks and moves with an air of mystery and has never revealed his true appearance to anyone, only admitting that he was born from the inside of the small, golden globe that floats midair in the middle of his stomach. He works with a group of circus performers who travel throughout the galaxy, him acting as their leader and coordinator. He decided to enter the F-Zero Grand Prix in order to save their circus business from it's ailing income issues with the prize money of one billion space credits as well as effectively advertise their business in the process, which he takes advantage of in nearly all of the F-Zero TV interviews he takes part in. Despite this worthy cause, Spade is still a very odd pilot when set among the rest, often not taking the race as seriously as he should or quitting for absolutely no reason. Every other time, he can be found setting very dangerous traps on the tracks he's racing on by way of the seemingly endless magic tricks he wields.

[edit] F-Zero GX

In the most recent console-based title, Spade is featured as a special character who can only be unlocked after successfully completing one of the game's nine StoryMode chapters on the Very Hard setting. This character was originally featured as an exclusively selectable pilot from the get-go in F-Zero AX, the reformatted arcade version of F-Zero GX. He proves to be a very strange and often foreboding entity when met in person, even though his overall intentions are supposedly straight. His being a "protagonist" in the F-Zero canon is often questioned given how pleased he is with setting deadly traps on the race track for other racers to unwittingly stumble upon with little to no gain other than mayhem.
